More about the NEST Trust

The NEST trust connects volunteers with communities in Nicaragua that need English to support their community tourism programmes.

Their goal: poverty reduction through education and employment.

How? The students taught become English speaking guides and community teachers. The communities develop sustainable tourism projects. Education leads to increased skills and better job prospects.

The NEST Trust is a dream coming true. The first part of the dream began in 2002 with volunteers teaching English for tourism with UCA Miraflor, near Esteli in the northern mountains. In 2007 a second part took shape when volunteers began teaching in other communities using the specific English for Community and Rural Tourism materials that the NEST Trust has compiled and printed, and a third part is that our students are also becoming teachers.
